love the idea of working around energy. it makes me question the norm of working 9-5, which expects people to be productive within those hours. it seems like a challenge to follow your energy when it contradicts your work hours.

Absolutely, I think it can be in direct conflict with our work schedules. They were never really built for individual prosperity (nor was the 5 day workweek, but that’s another story!) I touched on this a bit with the idea of what’s in our control vs what isn’t, but I feel like it’s a negotiation of sorts. Some places are more open to adjustment than others. One success case that comes to mind is how developers advocated for “focus / no meeting days.” They’re not the only ones that need it!

Thanks for sharing this Salman. I so agree with you on energy patterns. I've found myself at my creative best during the morning hours, tortoise during the afternoon and energetic early evening. 😅

Awesome to hear, Abhijeet!

Re: your schedule—are we the same person? 😅 I have found exactly the same thing! I have always been a bit of a night owl, and so all my writing used to happen at night. But I got tired of writing till 1-2AM, so I started writing in the morning and found it works way better. I just have more energy to give. By the afternoon, I sort of lose all my willpower to write. Then in the evening, I often get inspired to do some journaling, or capturing late-night ideas.

It's great just to know "what works" for each of us and optimize around that, rather than constantly trying to fight and force ourselves!

Ah. Kind of same. Not Journaling in the evening. But taking care of less creative writing tasks in the evening, the ones in which I just write write write. 😂
