Hey Salman - it's Nic, love the new podcast which I only just heard/got around to reading about on your newsletter... - I decided to listen to you whilst I was doing the washing up as then I can do two things at once. I can read and eat, and read and drink, and read and sometimes talk a bit, but when it comes to reading my multitasking functions are limited; whereas I can do LOADS of other things whilst listening so I hope that feedback helps! I think I mean - do more! You have inspired me to look into doing my own podcast for my weekly 'nature notes' columns too .. I need to work out how to do that...
Hey Nic, so great to hear from you! I'm really glad the podcast format worked out. I had heard from some newsletter author peers that their readers appreciated it for the same reasonโability to listen while doing other things. On the creation side, what I like about it is similar to why I enjoy making YouTube videos: it lets me talk out loud, be a bit more casual, and then from that I actually learn something and can write about it more formally.
So one thing I'm thinking of trying is, the next time I make a YT video, extract the audio and attach it as a podcast edition in the newsletter. That way, folks who subscribe can listen, and I get a bit more value from the time investment of making the video.
Thanks for your comment and encouraging me to keep experimenting w/ the format!
P.S. If you're looking for the simplest possible way to start a podcast, you might check out Anchor app (https://anchor.fm/). It lets you just record voice, and makes the podcast for you.
